Bees Awards: Part 1/blog update

There has been much conjecture and moaning about my “disrespect” for handing the Bees awards. Whatever.
Anyways, since I did give some “hardware”, let’s follow through with it.
Most Outstanding Rookie Â
Josh Bonar is a pretty easy choice, and winner of the only award I didn’t have to use a process of elimination. He played in 63 games, scoring 21 goals and adding 17 assists. And, imagine if he hadn’t gone on that 17-game goal scoring drought.
He wouldn’t have been David Nimmo, but he would have been a finalist for CHL Rookie of the Year.
Most Outstanding Defenseman
Picking an MOD on this team was not easy. At all. Garbutt doesn’t get this because of his stats, but because I think he was the best defenseman on this team. That sounds weird, I know, but he was really the only eligible RGV defenseman that even passed the eye test.
- Coming soon to the blog is a new Q&A feature with CHL reporters covering playoff teams. So far I have Roy Lang and Adam Dunivan lined up, with at least one more possibility.
- Where those Q&As will be found is another matter. We are switching blogging software (again) and, for some reason, this will mean a new domain name. Â But don’t worry, I’ve been alerted that there will be a re-direct from the existing domain.
My pretty picture, not this one, will be on there as well.
- Now it’s on to the good stuff for the CHL playoffs. The conference semi-finals, all best of seven, start tonight. If I weren’t covering soccer, I’d fire up the CHL TV.
- I’d say this transaction was pretty poorly timed for the people in the far Northeast (Youngstown):
DEL Pohl, Petr (F) recalled by Syracuse (AHL)
